Investing in talented school leaders

Today PSP announced a $1 million grant to St. Malachy Catholic School in North Philadelphia – our largest-ever grant to a Catholic elementary school. The investment will help fund a plan crafted by Principal Steve Janczewski and Assistant Principal Betsy Rafferty to turn around academic outcomes in the pre-K-8 school, which serves a student body that is 77 percent economically disadvantaged. It will also help the school to nearly double enrollment as it moves to a new building.

We believe that every great school starts with talented leadership. Steve and Betsy, as longtime educators and graduates of PhillyPLUS, are the ideal leaders to propel St. Malachy forward. We are confident they have the mindset and skills necessary to ensure that all of their students reach their potential.

We look forward to making further investments in great schools of all types so more students have access to a quality education. Please contact us if you want to get involved.
