Our Approach
To achieve our goals, the Philadelphia School Partnership works across school systems and with a broad base of stakeholders to demand dramatic reform that will increase the number of high quality school options in our city. Our core strategies are:
Creating Great Schools
The Philadelphia School Partnership invests in the successful conversion of low performing schools, invests in the creation of new school options, and invests in the replication of successful school models.
Engaging Parents and Communities
The Philadelphia School Partnership engages families, students and communities in dialogue about the performance of schools in their communities. We also activate families and students to demand dramatic change in education reform efforts that will lead to the expansion of the number of great schools in Philadelphia.
Supporting Strong Parochial Schools
The Philadelphia School Partnership will support the development of a strategic plan that ensures the viability of high performing parochial schools in our city.
Assessing Schools
The Philadelphia School Partnership will annually assess the academic performance of all schools in our community (charter, District run and parochial) and make this information accessible to the public. We will use the results of our assessment to engage parents in an ongoing conversation about the importance of having great schools in every neighborhood in Philadelphia.
Sharing Knowledge
The Philadelphia School Partnership will create a forum for schools to share promising practices and to collaborate on education initiatives. We will do this by utilizing technology to encourage the sharing of ideas, facilitating meetings, events and conferences that will advance learning across schools of all types.
Coordinating the Effective Use of School Facilities
The Philadelphia School Partnership will serve as a voice for change in the way our schools utilize facilities. Where school systems have excess capacity, we will advocate for the closure, sale or rental of buildings that can be used by others. We will facilitate the improved use of school facilities by tracking building usage across all types of schools and sharing this information across systems. By doing this, we will increase the efficiency of our school systems and redirect the opening and closing of schools to where they are most needed.
